Our rustic Almhütte Katharina is a rustic and romantic hut from the 19th century that retains its charm from the last centuries.

However, the hut has of course been adapted and modernized to meet today's comfort standards. So there is infrared heating in every room and hot water is available from an electricity boiler. In the hut there are two showers behind a curtain in the hallway and there are also two separate toilets in the house. To keep the hut warm and cozy, there are two large wood stoves and there is plenty of wood.

The house is divided into two floors: 5 bedrooms, 2 showers and 2 separate toilets. If you are looking for a holiday home for groups in the Pinzgau, you have come to the right place.

The entrance is via a small terrace with a seating area on the 180 sqm ground floor. The kitchen with a large seating area is also on the ground floor and has satellite TV, WiFi Internet, grandma’s old wood stove, an electric stove with four rings, a dishwasher, two refrigerators with freezer, a coffee machine and all the necessary kitchen utensils. There is also a parlor with another four seats, a separate toilet and a ski storage area in the woodshed. Washer and dryer are also available.

On the ground floor there is also a four-bed room with four single beds and a double bedroom.

On the first floor there are a total of three bedrooms: three three-bed rooms one of them with a washbasin in the room. In the hallway, behind a curtain, there are two showers and a sink. In addition, there is a separate toilet here.

The Almhütte Katharina in Mühlbach im Pinzgau is in a secluded location on a 2 hectare property, on a slope, surrounded by fruit trees and a unique view of the valley and the village of Mühlbach.

Ideal for summer and winter

Both in winter and in summer you can optimally use the property and the garden for a variety of activities. In winter you can simply toboggan down the slope. There are enough toboggans available for you free of charge. In summer you can enjoy the wonderful view and relax in the warm sun or organize a barbecue evening by the fireplace. Sufficient garden furniture is available and the Salzbach river is located below the property, along which a beautiful kilometer-long bike path leads you on a discovery tour.

It is easy to get to the house by car in summer, the way to the house is also cleared in winter, but you still need snow chains and four-wheel drive to drive to the house. Otherwise there is parking up to approx. 250 meters in front of the house.

The holiday home is perfect for larger groups who like to vacation in the Salzburger Land. Although there is space for up to 15 people, the Almhütte Katharina is also perfect as a holiday home for 6 people or as accommodation for 8 or 12 people. The alpine hut is also very popular as a holiday accommodation for ski clubs, sports clubs and school classes.

The next place is Mühlbach im Pinzgau, approx. 2 km away. Bramberg am Wildkogel (about 2.5 km) and Neukirchen am Grossvenediger are part of the Wildkogel-Arena ski area, which stretches between the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Kitzbühel Alps. In Bramberg, the Smaragdbahn and the eight-person gondola lift take you straight up to the ski area, from where you can enjoy spectacular views over the country. Probably the longest, illuminated toboggan run in the world in Neukirchen is approx. 7 km away.

The winter and summer sports resort Hollersbach im Pinzgau (4.6 km from the alpine hut) in the Hollersbachtal is also part of the Hohe Tauern National Park and is nicknamed the "blooming village", as over 700 different types of plants and medicinal herbs are grown here.

Holiday home near the Kitzbühel Alps

Here the 8-seater gondola lift enables comfortable entry into the Kitzbühel Alps, from where you have an incomparable view of the Hohe Tauern and the entire Salzach Valley. The Panorambahn (2 km from the alpine hut) is the southernmost entry point into the Kitzbühel Alps ski area and takes you to an altitude of 1892 m in 12 minutes.

The world-famous ski area of ​​the Kitzbühel Alps has 179 kilometers of slopes, 55 lifts from Hollersbach to the world-famous Kitzbühler Streif to Kirchberg, 200 km of cross-country trails, Quality Snowpark and much more. Also popular here are snow hikes and ice stock sport, in which the teams shoot their ice sticks as close as possible to the stave. This old custom used to be played only in winter and on frozen waters, now the sport is played all year round.

In summer, Hollersbach and Mittersill, approx. 9 km away, are the ideal starting points for excursions into the varied landscape of the Oberpinzgau.

The Panoramabahn also runs in the Kitzbühel Alps in summer, and if you are brave enough, you can then float back into the valley with a paraglider. A visit to the Hollersbachtal is particularly worthwhile, because from here you can ascend to the Fürther Hütte at the Kratsenbergsee at 2,100 meters. This is a natural monument and the largest natural highest mountain lake in the Hohe Tauern. From here a path leads to the summit cross at 3,022 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy the Larmkogel. From this height there is a great view of the glacier world of the Grossvenediger, because in summer, for example, the white headed vultures have their sleeping places here.

Enjoy the summer days at the Naturbadesse with adventure playground in Hollersbach or in the outdoor pools in Mühlbach and Mittersill. You can experience pure adventure rafting or canyoning on the Wildkogel or exploring the mountains on a mountain bike. About 13 km away is the Wald-Königsleiten crystal bath with indoor and outdoor areas, sauna and wellness, which is ideal for relaxation.
